Watershed management and reforestation

Disaster Risk reduction, by construction of several protection walls, on flood passage canals, construction of terraces, trench and dams, in northern provinces. Watersheds are the main source of flood disaster in Afghanistan. MAAO made lot of effort to manage the watersheds through construction of terraces, trench and dams to mitigate flood disaster and protect natural resources from destruction in the north. The activities will be followed by reforestation to improve good environment for living and income generation. Out of the 18 large and medium scale projects that we have implemented to date 13 of them had watershed management components in them.
